Melina Georgouda was born in Thessaloniki, Greece.
She studied fashion design at Polimoda, Florence Italy and FIT University of New York and shoe design at the ARS Sutoria Institute of Milan Italy.
After working at the family business of shoe retail for 25 years, she decided to switch careers and become an artist. She has attended art classes with the famous artist Rania Emmanouilidou at Les Yper Yper art school for four years.
In her works she deals with the human figure, mainly focusing on portraits.
The phyche, the experiences, the inner strength are some of the elements that she tries to convey through the gaze and the expression.
The colors she uses, vivid and liquid, create a palette of strenghth and intensity at the same time.
Confused personalities, immersed in passion, insecurities, demanding experiences but also determined, decisive.
Watercolors, pastel and acrylics create a dance giving you the feeling of traveling, seducing the details, spoiling the symmetries, emphasizing the imperfections. Often, the use of black contouring envelopes her protagonists and gives another dynamic element.The constant use of lines, breaking through her paintings, symbolise our scars, our marks, our paths, our choices, our backs and forths.
The background remains indifferent, accompanying the forms in color to add even more value to their fragile features.
These individuals struggle with the multiple roles they are called upon to play in modern society, the demands of others and their personal expectations.
They live in uncertainty and insecurity. But they are present, ready to fight for the next day.
These faces look you in the eye and ask you to understand them, to listen to them…

Abstract art is another part of Melina’s artwork. She likes to describe it as “what’s happening inside”. All her sentiments, thoughts, fears, hope, expressed in colors and brushstrokes, creating free spaces without a specific object, giving you the freedom to project your own feelings.
Melina has participated in special projects such as the collaboration with fashion designer Athena P Gerard, in creating a unique limited edition of kimonos and scarves.
Another interesting project was doing the artwork for the labels of several wines. An initiative of Nikos Nyfoudis and the Aslanis winery.
